The book charts the key role of Symbolism as the earlierst form of modernism in Russia. The design is derived from the graphic 'elements'
of the publisher's device of Skorpion, the publishing house which was instrumental in uniting the Russian symbolists.
This symbolic logo is deconstructed and shown on the cover in a hidden, indirect and suggestive way.
