Leather joints and doublures are in the same shade. Leather endbands with silk highlights. The endpapers are printed using linoleum blocks highlighting the outlines of topiary shapes from illustrations inside the book. The binding is housed in a solander box with the title debossed in multiple colours on the spine. The walls of the box are covered in six different colours echoing the palette used on the cover. The design takes inspiration from a line in the book; "Given a pair of shears and an untidy evergreen, it is hard to resist the temptation." The onlay shapes were first drawn and cut with shears. These shapes were then carefully recreated in leather, retaining the organic edges of the scissor cuts. These forms reflect both the wood engravings in the book and topiary shapes from Levens Hall – the last surviving topiary garden. Private Collection, UK
